FAQ answered by Christine

(Main Photographer and Manager of Christine Jade Photography)

What is your photography style?

I am a Lifestyle Photographer. My style is to capture natural moments and provide each couple with romantic and unique photos which tell the story of your wedding day from Bridal Prep right through to Reception.

There are times though out the day where I will have you look at the camera to take some formal photos for your Mum and Grandma. But when those shots are done, that’s where the fun begins! We can get as creative as you wish. Think coloured smoke flares, sparklers and confetti!

Do you hold Engagement Sessions?

I offer a free engagement session for all couples who book an all-inclusive wedding collection with Christine Jade Photography.

I think they’re really important because they give us a chance to get to know each other and get you used to being in front of the camera, ahead of your wedding day.

If you want an Engagement Session to trial me as a potential Photographer for your wedding, you can book a couples session with me for $250.

How much will it cost to have you photograph my wedding?

There are two types of Wedding Collections to choose from; digital only or all-inclusive.

Digital collections are for couples who want shorter wedding coverage options. They receive digital files only, with the freedom to add an album or display art, if they desire. Prices start from $800.

All-inclusive collections are the most popular. They are for couples who want everything! An engagement session, full wedding coverage, a beautiful custom lay flat album, prints & a USB of the digital files to share on social media. Prices start from $2800.

I’m happy to meet up in person chat about your wedding vision & answer any questions you may have. I can also bring along some sample albums for you to look at if you like.

Do you offer discounts?

I do have special offers once a year for the Ideal Bride Expo. Outside of this, I don’t reduce the cost of my Collections. Sometimes I might offer couples a discount in the form of “studio credit” for loose prints.

There is a saying: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”. This is so true when it comes to Wedding Photography.

Please know that in hiring me, you are hiring a professional who is experienced at photographing portraits and weddings. I truly care about my clients needs and enjoy capturing beautiful photos that you will love for years to come.

I take the time to scope out your venue prior to the big day to see how the light falls and come back to you with various ideas.

One key thing that sets me apart from other Photographers, is that I have clients photos edited and ready to view online within 3 weeks of their wedding.

Do you travel for destination weddings?

Absolutely. I’d love to travel interstate or overseas to capture your special day for you. Should you choose me to cover your wedding, I can assure you that you are hiring someone very experienced in travel.

Travel is charged in a simple manner. In addition to the chosen Wedding Collection, you just need to cover the cost of my airfare and accommodation.

Can I try you out before I book you as my Wedding Photographer?

Choosing the right Photographer for your big day is one of the most significant decisions you will have to make. If you’d like to try out my services before you book me, I can offer couples a 1.5 hr Engagement Session for $250, which includes all edited digitals.

A great idea is to use your engagement photos on a “save the date” card for your wedding. You could also use the engagement photos in a mini album to have your guests write personal messages in, at your wedding.

How far ahead should I book?

Once you have your Wedding date chosen and the venue locked in, booking your Wedding Photographer is the next step. All I ask for is a $500 deposit, which serves as a retainer.

Should we have a Wedding Timeline?

Yes. I do think it is important for us to be on the same page regarding the Wedding Timeline. This will ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day.

As a general guide, I recommend allocating the following time for photographing different aspects of the day:

  • Bridal Prep 1.5 hours
  • First Look 30 minutes
  • Group photo & family formals 30 minutes
  • Creative photos of the Bridal party with the Bride & Groom 45 minutes
  • Creative photos of just the Bride & Groom 1-5 hours
  • Reception (3 – 4 hours or whatever time is remaining)

Note: The Wedding Timeline can be changed right up until 2 weeks prior to your Wedding Day.

I have to cancel my wedding. Can I have my deposit back?

The deposit is non-refundable. It guarantees that I will hold the particular date exclusively for you and once you’ve signed the contract, I turn down all other Weddings for that date.

How many hours should I book you for?

My Collections include a minimum of 8 hours wedding coverage. This gives me the opportunity to capture every special moment as the day unfolds, without being constrained to a time limit. It enables me to tell the full story of your day.

If we run overtime and need you to stay longer, can you?

I have an overtime rate of $150 per hour and it goes into effect only with your consent on the day. I would then send you an invoice for the extra hours, after your wedding.

Do we need to provide you with food at the reception?

It would be lovely if you can accommodate me! It doesn’t have to be the same as your sit down meal (many caterers offer a “vendor meal” option).

I would prefer to eat when you do, because when people are eating, they aren’t their most photogenic! When you are done eating, I will be too and can continue the coverage.

Can I be sure that it will be you taking my Wedding Photographs?

I will be your main Photographer on the day. If you choose my Platinum Wedding Collection, you will also get a second shooter. They help me to get different angles of your day and capture more of the candid moments that I might not see happening behind my back.

What if it’s raining on the day?

I will always research back up location options prior to the wedding, in case it rains. Sometimes, light rain in your photos can add to the mood of the images to tell the real story of your day.

However, if it is an absolutely horrendous day & photos outdoors just aren’t possible I do have a Wet Weather Guarantee. In the case of really bad weather, that doesn’t allow us to venture outside for your creative photos, I will come back another day (for one hour) to photograph you and your new husband or wife in perfect weather. Travel fees may apply if outside of Brisbane.

If it’s just a little cloudy or there’s light rain, don’t worry! The light for the photographs will be spot on. I bring an umbrella to every wedding. If you know it will rain and want to incorporate umbrellas into a creative photo, feel free to buy some for your bridal party to match your wedding colours.

How many photos do you normally take at a Wedding?

At most weddings I average 100 photos per hour. Although, rather than promising a specific number, I make it my aim to tell the full story of your Wedding Day. The photos I supply you with won’t contain “filler” images just for the sake of totalling an agreed number. They will be quality images.

Do you edit the photos?

All photos are edited by me.

Do we get the RAW files?

No. These files are not available for viewing or purchase. RAW files are large unedited data files, which are unusable until they are converted into JPEG files.

The images selected for editing and final delivery, reflect my very high standards and photographic style.

Can we get the black and white images in colour?

Images in black and white are only available in black and white. I convert only the files which I know will look best in black and white. The rest will be delivered in colour.

What digital files will I receive on USB?

The digital files you will receive on USB will be edited, saved in JPEG and supplied in a smaller file size (perfect for sharing on social media) and a large file size.

For large size prints, I recommend ordering through me to guarantee the quality and longevity. I use professional photographic printing services who print on archival quality paper.

Can I order my own prints or products?

As mentioned in the Wedding Contract, I ask that any print and product orders come through me. This is to maintain and reflect the highest quality standards, which I pride my business on.

All Canvas wall art orders come with a 75 year unlimited warranty guarantee. If you accidentally damage it, the company will re-print it for you for free.

When will I get my photos?

I will have your photos edited within 3 weeks.

Album and display art orders can take up to 8 weeks for production and delivery if there are no delays.

What albums and display products do you offer?

I only use the best suppliers who can guarantee their products high quality and longevity. I have a few sample albums that I can show you when we meet up for our initial consultation.

Your album will be hand made to reflect your personal style. You will have a variety of leather and fabric options to choose from, along with different sizes, fonts and orientations. Each album is presented in a cloth wrap and a black presentation box.

Your album will be put together in a way that tells the story of your day from start to finish. This will allow you to relive your Wedding Day for many years to come.

I allow up to 3 sets of changes to be made prior to sending it to print (any more changes are subject to a fee).

Please allow up to 8 weeks for this entire album design/order process.

I also have a range of quality acrylic wall art, canvas wall mounts and frame mount packages. And the edited digitals will be saved on a branded USB.

Want something that isn’t listed? Just let me know and I’ll do my best to source it for you!

Can I meet you?

Absolutely! I encourage couples to meet me prior to booking me, so that we can get to know each other and to ensure that we’re a great fit. I can meet you out for coffee or stop by your place. If you live too far away, we can Skype. Whatever suits you the best.

What photography equipment do you use?

My equipment of choice includes two full frame professional grade Nikon SLR bodies, a variety of Nikon lens and two Nikon speedlights to use as required (mostly at reception).

I like your long exposure landscape, cityscape and travel photos on your Instagram page. Can I order wall art prints from you?

I do sell acrylic or canvas wall art. Just let me know what photo you like, the size you want it and I can send through a quote.

Do you photograph anything other than Weddings?

I often am asked to do outdoor portrait sessions for individuals, couples and families. I can also take professional business head shots. Just let me know what you have in mind when completing the CONTACT form.
